Why the Modified Samsung Drive is perfect for anyone with an Xbox 360 Mod:
NOTE: Exactly the same drive, however it comes in an External USB 2.0 enclosure, great for connecting to a Laptop or for users who are not confident at opening their PC's.
Actual item may vary in looks from picture, however looks basically the same. The Enclosures are White.

To backup games, you first have to extract the game from the disc.
For PC and PS2 games, this is easy. Simply put it into the drive and run one of the many programs available to make a picture perfect copy.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Xbox 360 Games. A regular PC DVD-ROM Drive cannot read an Xbox 360 disc; if you try to copy a game with regular software, it won't work.
This is due to two problems:
1. Trying to read the disc directly will cause the drive to extract only a small portion of the data. To a PC, an Xbox 360 disc looks like a tiny file. This can be overcome by physically taking a PC DVD-ROM Drive apart, inserting a very, very large DVD-Movie, then swapping the Movie disc for the Xbox 360 game without opening the tray (meaning you have to remove the cover of the drive, while it?s running, and swap discs).
This tricks the drive into thinking it?s a huge disc, and as a result you can extract the game. However, there is still one problem.
2. Security Sectors (SS)
This is basically a tiny little 2kb file which acts like a Key for the Xbox 360 game to run. When an Xbox 360 game is played, the 360 checks the disc, and the SS to make sure they match. If the SS key is wrong, or it does not exist, the game won?t boot.
Why this causes a problem is; a regular PC DVD-ROM Drive cannot access the SS Key. It cannot read it from the disc. So although you can (through some difficulties I might add) extract the game, you can?t extract the SS Key! So making a copy of the game will not work anyway!
So, how did anyone ever copy anything?
Until recently (9th September 2006), the only way you could get this Security Sector was to plug the Xbox 360's DVD-ROM Drive into your PC and read it with that.
Although this was fail proof, every time you wanted to copy a game you would have to completely take apart your Xbox 360, take the drive out, then take apart your PC and plug it into that!
This was not only time consuming but also difficult. You need special screwdriver bits to take apart an Xbox 360, not to mention a fairly good knowledge of how to put it back together!
However, on Friday that changed.
We now have a special Modified Samsung PC DVD-ROM Drive which you can use to extract the Security Sectors and Game from the Disc. This means you can simply put the game into your drive, run the software (Xbox Backup Creator) then burn the file to disc.
You don?t need to open anything, no ?hot-swapping? of discs or opening Xbox 360 consoles. Simply install the DVD Drive into your PC as you would any other PC CD-ROM Drive, and you can begin using it to make your backups.
Not only is this fast, but it?s easy. And you won?t find yourself wasting $10/disc on backups that don?t work.
The drives are only $70, which is an absolute steal for anyone wanting to backup their collection. They also come bundled with all the software you?ll need to extract the game.
Xbox Backup Creator is very easy to use. Basically you click the ?Start Read? button and makes an ISO image, you then click the ?Start Burn? button and it burns it back to a DVD+R DL!
Note: This is just a DVD-ROM Drive, not a DVD-Writer. You still need a DVD-Writer to burn the disc to DVD. We recommend a Pioneer DVD Burner, and Verbatim DVD+R DL Discs (also available at X-Mods soon).
